Today was one of those days that you know will be talked of at family reunions 10 years from now...:) Oh, super duper craziness!
Well well, this morning was a slow one...to start out. It was about 10am and Mom and I were talking downstairs. Mom says, "Ahh, I soo wish we could just hop in the car and drive to meet Dad at the airport!" (He's been gone on business for a week) The old light-bulb popped up above my head and I said, "Uh, so why don't we??" To make a long story short, we dropped school, became the house of insanity trying to fly out the door to drive to the airport 2 hours away to surprise a Dad who's flight was to land in 2 hours also, making calls to find out where his plane would land, making lunches and packing coloring stuff and gathering 4 little people into the car with 3 bigger people - and OFF we flew, desperately praying that we'd get there in time.
And I am just certain God was cracking up watching us the whole time. Oh, He is good, and helped us make NO wrong turns, get there JUST when the plane landed, and sent us a very NICE flight attendant to take us all the way to the gate and stand waiting for a whole 2 minutes before Dad would come around the corner. The look on his face when he realized that 'his people'(panting for breath) were standing there in front of him is something we'll all never forget and will laugh at for a long time. He stopped dead in his tracks, stunned to see us, and very much surprised. Time froze for a second before a stampede of hugs came into full force. Hugs and hugs and hugs.
We came home dancing and singing and laughing, stopped for pizza and came home to find our house out of power, and more laughing exploded. :)
God is the author of family. He's the author of laughter and smiles and happiness. And sometimes, like today, God can also be the author of pure, utter craziness. And how thankful I am for that.
