Little Women the Musical

Get ready, it's one of those theater posts when I tell you how much I love this...you know the drill, week of opening.
Ok but really. Musical theater? You'd better not get me started.

Final dress rehearsal last night. Every minute of hard work coming together to create a show. And tonight is when it kind of explodes and we get to have the most fun of all. It's opening night, gents. We get to perform.

Let me say, I love the craziness. I love the costumes, the hair, makeup, hectic running between scenes and changes, searching madly for safety pins and hangers, bumping into everyone, trying to whisper downstairs but failing into suppressed bursts of laughing, the inside jokes, the forgotten lines and ad-lib, the blinding light in the wings, the very awkward moments, making your entrance onstage and becoming a story with those people you've spent hundreds of minutes with the last couple months, weeks, days and days. All those details that make up the memories of a production.

This show might be one of my favorites yet, for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I get to do it with my big brother. I've loved that we can share in this together. He's amazing..you need to come see the show, if just to hear him sing. Honestly.
Also, I've gotten to know my chuz Colin so much more through this show..he's been wonderful and driven me to almost every practice. For the long drive to and from the farm, that adds up to a lot of conversation time! Just a couple nights ago after a late 11pm rehearsal, he asked if we could make a quick stop at Kroger - well of course the self-check out was broken and the "quick" stop turned into a very long stop. :-) We had fun cracking up at ourselves and there you go...a funny memory.

Laura(our fantastic costumer)'s costumes are incredible and so much fun. I've never had this many costumes and changes before, and it's really a blast. Being Amy means the transition from being a little girl to the older, sophisticated young lady, with lots of different costumes in between. Ooh, and I've mentioned before that there are hags and trolls? Yes, and they look so good and creepy. It's extremely fun watching people "apply their warts" at the makeup table.

My girls...I am SO thankful for my girls. Probably too much laughing, yes. Auntie Amy...you're responsible for raising us. *two head snaps with sniffles* ASTONISHIIING.

(Ninja Night at practice)^

These two are doing a marvelous job, and when they can keep from laughing, they perform so well together. :-) Their song...will melt your heart. Bring tissues.

Rebecca, Rebecca. This talented actress. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to work closely with Rebecca as her March sister(well, with all three of my March sisters!). Not only does she amaze me with her acting/singing, but she is an encouragement and delight to be around. I enjoy her friendship immensely.
(mhmm..my hair is golden. They had it dyed for the show. Story on that adventure soon.)
I really hope you're convinced to come see this show- you will have a ball. Please come, and stay a bit afterwards to meet the cast! Hope to see you there -

AAaaargh!! I WISH so badly I could see it!!!! :D Ugh!! Why do you have to be doing it so terribly far away?!?!

Well, Meg, you're opening in 10 minutes. Probably going crazy backstage right now, too, I can imagine. :) I know all about how that goes. :) I need to run for dinner, but really, I hope you have an absolutely INCREDIBLE show and the Lord blesses you beyond measure. Cherish these times and cherish God's hand at work through them. I'm praying for you!
